Responsibilities

ECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented Specialty Technician II to join our Mobile team and advance in a dynamic work environment. The Specialty Technician II performs destructive and non-destructive testing, inspection, and observation activities on construction materials projects with increasing independence. This role supports projects of moderate complexity and applies specialized testing methods and inspection techniques, including structural steel inspection and non-destructive evaluation (NDE). The Specialty Technician II contributes to project execution, documentation, and mentoring while maintaining a positive customer service attitude and demonstrating ECS Core Values.

Responsibilities

  • Performs destructive and non-destructive testing of construction materials
  • Conducts specialty inspections including structural steel, reinforcing steel, welds, and connections
  • Performs advanced testing activities such as ground penetrating radar (GPR), material verification, and corrosion surveys
  • Performs inspections in fabrication facilities and industrial environments as needed
  • Conducts inspections of piping systems, pressure vessels, and specialty components where applicable
  • Documents field observations, inspections, and testing results in accordance with engineering standards
  • Communicates daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers
  • Reports changes in site conditions and testing requirements to project teams
  • Prepares and submits field reports and technical documentation
  • Performs calculations, data reduction, and basic drafting tasks
  • Maintains and organizes specialty testing equipment
  • Notifies supervisors of damaged or missing equipment
  • Mentors Specialty Technician I and other junior technicians
  • Participates in project meetings as required
  • Performs other specialty testing and inspection duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years of related experience
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Maintain two specialty certifications and obtain one additional specialty certification, such as AWS CWI or Ultrasound Level II, applicable to the work performed as per the ECS Technician Certification Policy
    • General industry OSHA 10 may be required
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
  • Sound working knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing methods
  • Strong understanding of construction practices and jobsite operations
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency with electronic devices and reporting systems
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and codes
  • Ability to calibrate NDT equipment (where applicable)
  • Basic math and data reduction skills
  • Must have the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all local and state laws, road/driving regulations, and company policies
  • If driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required
