Description

Leidos is seeking a Senior Software Developer to support the rapid development of operations, data analysis, and data visualization applications in a dynamic mission environment. This is a fast-paced development environment where emerging operational needs often require quick, practical software solutions that can be deployed rapidly and refined over time.

The successful candidate will work closely with the customer and end users to understand evolving requirements, solve complex data-driven problems, and deliver effective solutions across both front-end and back-end environments. The role supports the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design and development, troubleshooting, deployment, system backup and recovery, and enhancement of both existing and new applications.

This position is located in Chantilly, VA.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Candidates must currently possess an active TS/SCI clearance and be willing and able to undergo a polygraph. Candidates who do not currently possess an active TS/SCI will not be reviewed or considered.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance mission-critical software applications.
  • Rapidly develop and deliver software solutions in response to emerging operational needs and evolving requirements.
  • Develop both front-end and back-end components in support of operational and data-analysis requirements.
  • Work directly with customers and end users to gather requirements and translate operational needs into technical solutions.
  • Develop applications supporting the analysis and visualization of large and complex datasets, including geospatial data.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex software, system, and data-related issues.
  • Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
  • Research and integrate new technologies as mission and technical requirements evolve.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field.
  • 15+ years of relevant software development experience.
  • Current/active TS/SCI security clearance and willingness to undergo a polygraph.
  • Demonstrated experience rapidly developing and delivering software solutions in response to time-sensitive or evolving operational requirements.
  • Experience developing applications using an object-oriented programming language such as Java or C#/.NET.
  • Experience developing in Python.
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React.js, Node.js, or Next.js.
  • Experience with both relational and non-relational databases, such as MySQL and MongoDB.
  • Experience developing software that processes, analyzes, or visualizes large or complex datasets.
  • Experience with UI/UX design principles and translating user requirements into functional interfaces.
  • Experience developing in both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Experience with source-code repositories/version control, including Git and/or Subversion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with geospatial datasets and developing applications supporting geospatial analysis or visualization.
  • Experience developing software in support of an operational mission environment.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and services, including IaaS.
  • Experience with ETL processes and large-scale datasets.
  • Experience working with data formats including CSV, JSON, and XML.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with ActiveMQ.
