What Your Job Will Be Like

Organization 05358 (Inertial Sensors and Surveillance) is seeking an enthusiastic R&D Technologist to join our PLM team to immediately support the development, test, and qualification of the W93 Pathlength Module (PLM). The PLM meets demanding performance specifications, offers extremely high reliability, and meets difficult survivability requirements.
The PLM PRT is a dynamic team faced with the unique challenge of implementing new technology into a major component. We are an energetic, high-performing team seeking a focused, well-qualified technologist with an appropriate breadth of experience capable of supporting staff in a fast paced environment.

The successful candidate is expected to be self-directed and motivated while supporting a cross-functional team of engineers and other staff to support test and development activities of the PLM. With the team's assistance, the technologist is expected to assemble, test, and evaluate PWA's. Build test hardware, cables and support testing at various facilities.
Note that some travel is required to support testing during development, and Qualification of the PLM.

We are seeking highly motivated electronics technologist to join our team. Ultimately, your hands-on electronics assembly and bench testing knowledge and skills will be used to develop and support electronics testing and identify and solve problems as they arise. The variety of applications requires a strong foundation in electrical and engineering principles--any part from resistors to ICs could require installation, rework, and characterization.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Partner with our engineers and other technologists to develop and execute testing of various commercial electronics
  • Assist on multiple parts being tested
  • Assemble and rework printed circuit boards
  • Troubleshoot testing problems
  • Integrate hardware and software

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will be required to work onsite.

Salary Range

$74,700 - $144,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 3 or more years of directly relevant experience
  • Experience with test and analysis (troubleshooting) of electronics
  • Experience with installation, testing, repair, and maintenance of components
  • Experience with assembling and disassembling flight hardware to applicable IPC standards
  • Experience with reading and understanding schematics, wiring diagrams and/or layouts
  • ESD prevention knowledge and practices
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance
Qualifications We Desire

  • An Associates degree in a relevant engineering, technology, STEM discipline
  • Active DOE Q clearance or equivalent (DOW Top Secret)
  • Ability to work independently and as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Communicates well within small and large teams.
  • Knowledge of TestStand/Labview and C#.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment, particularly related to electrical/electronic testing
  • Ability to collaborate with engineering staff to test hardware and document test results
  • Demonstrated ability to assemble and rework PCB's to include components as small as 0402, Ball Grid Arrays (BGA's) and Quad-Flat No-lead (QFN) packages
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • IPC J-STD-001, IPC 7711/7721, IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 certifications preferred
About Our Team

The NW Controller and Surveillance Department is responsible for the design, development and support of electronic subsystems that manage the arming and fuzing deterrent. The department specializes in analog and digital circuit design as well as the integrating software to control and test real-time embedded systems. The on-going surveillance activities required to maintain the active stockpile's arming and fuzing electronic sub-systems.
