What Your Job Will Be Like

Are you passionate about your work and want to join a dynamic and diverse team? If so, you could be the highly motivated Production Planning Control Specialist we seek to fill a position within the Explosive Component Operations Science and Technology Department (Org. 07457).

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Work with the production operation and the product development organizations to develop and execute a material requirement and/or production build schedules that support the internal and external customer delivery schedule
  • Use MRP (material requirements planning) tools and techniques the planners ensure the availability and flow of raw materials and/or jobs on the production floor
  • Monitor, communicate, and report to management the status and issues associated with material availability and/or production build plan
  • Analyze the status of raw materials and/or jobs; dedicatedly identifying issues which have the potential to impact the production plan or the product development schedule and works with appropriate personnel to define and implement recovery plans

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range

$87,400 - $168,800

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, plus 5 years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of relevant education/experience
  • Experience working in manufacturing environment with knowledge of industry standard Manufacturing Resources Planning (MRP) system and related business practices (i.e. Oracle, SAP, or similar)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
Qualifications We Desire

  • Understanding of Lean Six Sigma concepts, methods, and tools (visual pull signals, flow, Kanban, standard work processes, etc.) and experience in the application of the tools toward continuous improvement
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong social skills, and ability to work effectively in dynamic team environments
  • Proven leadership and/or project management skills
  • Experience working with DOD, DOE, or other highly regulated manufacturing operation
  • Familiar with industry standard quality management systems (AS9100, ISO9000)
  • Certified in APICS professional certification programs (Production and Inventory Management, Integrated Resource Management, or Supply Chain Professional)
  • Active DOE security clearance
About Our Team

The Explosive Component Operations Science and Technology department (7457) produces energetic components that support deliverables for Sandia's nuclear deterrence mission. We also provide mission-enabling support to all of 7450, while innovating energetic component processes and production capabilities for the organization. We are responsible for production planning, product pre-acceptance, and component manufacturing. We oversee the operations of the Energetics Manufacturing Science and Technology (EMSAT) facility.
