About the Hiring Group

We are seeking a Vice President, Workplace, Safety & Security to provide strategic leadership, direction, and oversight for RTI's Workplace and Security Division in support of RTI's mission, values, workforce, and organizational objectives. You will advance RTI's workplace strategy, corporate real estate portfolio, facilities and workplace operations, campus development, workplace experience, and physical environment, while providing executive oversight of global security programs.

The Vice President will lead the development and execution of RTI's Campus of the Future strategy for its Research Triangle Park headquarters, ensuring that workplace investments foster collaboration, innovation, an exceptional employee experience, operational excellence, sustainability, and organizational resilience.

Additionally, you will serve as a strategic advisor to the Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer on enterprise workplace, campus, security, and corporate services matters. The role has direct responsibility for workplace functions and provides oversight of Global Security through the Senior Director, Global Security. You will partner closely with Enterprise Risk Management on business continuity, crisis preparedness, and enterprise resilience, while Enterprise Risk Management retains lead responsibility for business continuity.


What You'll Do

  • Lead RTI's integrated Workplace and Security Division in alignment with its mission and long-term priorities.
  • Set the Campus of the Future strategy, positioning the RTP headquarters to advance innovation, collaboration, culture, and mission impact.
  • Advance workplace strategy across employee experience, occupancy, hybrid work, analytics, engagement, and productivity.
  • Shape long-term campus, facilities, capital, real estate, and space plans with enterprise leaders.
  • Oversee real estate strategy, transactions, workplace standards, space planning, and portfolio optimization.
  • Direct facilities, capital projects, engineering, workplace services, amenities, and logistics.
  • Advance campus sustainability through responsible operations and investments.
  • Oversee Global Security strategy, risk mitigation, employee safety, travel security, protective services, and readiness.
  • Adapt RTI's security posture to evolving threats through effective policies, partnerships, and employee preparedness.
  • Partner with Enterprise Risk Management on crisis preparedness, emergency response, business continuity, and resilience.
  • Guide capital planning and budgets for facilities, campus, real estate, workplace transformation, and infrastructure.
  • Champion service excellence, innovation, workplace technology, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish governance, metrics, service standards, and vendor practices across the portfolio.
  • Advise executive leadership on workplace, campus, employee experience, safety, security, real estate, and corporate services.
  • Build a high-performing team through coaching, development, succession planning, and RTI leadership behaviors.
  • Champion change, innovation, collaboration, and clear communication through enterprise transformation.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's Degree and 20 years of directly related experience, Master's degree and 16years of directly related experience, or a PhD and 12 years of directly related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business objectives, workforce needs, and mission priorities into integrated workplace, real estate, campus, facilities, and security strategies.
  • Experience leading in a fast-paced, complex environment with competing priorities and high executive visibility.
  • Experience leading change communications and supporting employees through workplace, campus, facilities, security, or operating-model changes.
  • Demonstrated success advising and influencing executive leaders on complex workplace, capital, real estate, security, employee experience, and risk decisions.
  • Proven ability to build trust, set high standards, and lead high-performing, service-oriented teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex issues proactively and practically while balancing strategy with execution.
  • Experience building effective partnerships across HR, Risk Management, Finance, Legal, IT, Communications, business units, public agencies, vendors, and other external partners.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, including experience with capital planning, operating budgets, portfolio costs, vendor performance, investment tradeoffs, and long-term asset planning.
  • Demonstrated discretion, sound judgment, confidentiality, and executive presence when handling sensitive matters.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally throughout the year, including overnight stays as needed.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel, plus relevant workplace, facilities, security, portfolio, and analytics tools.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearances required by applicable contracts.

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below. Our pay ranges represent national averages and may vary by location as a geographic differential may be applied to some locations within the United States. RTI considers multiple factors when making an offer including, for example: established salary range, internal budget, business needs, and education and years of work experience possessed by the applicant. Further, salary is merely one element to our offer.
