DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position oversees daily office operations and supports leadership by coordinating and managing a wide range of administrative activities. It ensures smooth workflow, accurate processes, and effective communication across the Bureau of Veterans Homes headquarters. As an Administrative Officer 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Office Coordination: Plan tasks, delegate assignments, and ensure efficient completion of administrative work
- Staff Supervision: Guide administrative staff, monitor performance, and provide training as needed
- Policy Oversight: Review documents for accuracy, update procedures, and prepare reports for leadership
- Hiring Management: Support staffing needs by coordinating job postings, interviews, and new employee processes
- Project Support: Conduct research, prepare briefing materials, and assist with special assignments and initiatives
- Resource Management: Oversee purchases, budget impacts, office equipment, and information technology (IT) and telecommunications needs

- Full-time employment (7.5 hours per day/37.5 hours per week)
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs.
- Overtime and travel as operationally necessary
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. You will report in-office 5 days and telework 5 days in a 10-day pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Annville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in varied office management or staff work; and bachelor's degree; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
- You must maintain an Automated Installation Entry (AIE) card once it is issued.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):

Experience providing administrative support -
Experience working at a long-term or large health care facility -
Experience analyzing information and developing reports that assist in the management of the organization -
Experience working with Microsoft Excel to generate metrics, manage and format data, create advanced formulas and macros, and manage advanced charts and tables -
Experience supervising staff in administrative operation -
Experience creating work schedules, assigning staff duties, or ensuring office coverage - Experience reviewing, reconciling, or managing billing, accounts, postage charges, or similar financial documentation
