Summary:

Provides analytical and accounting tracking, and reconciliation for trading and scheduling areas, acting as liaison for the commercial department, reporting on secondary costs, assisting with scheduling, and ensuring EPA compliance, by performing the following duties.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Maintains various exchange and storage accounts by keeping up with balances, ensuring that correct product volumes have moved, monitoring monthly activity and reconciling with Accounting;

  • Updates spreadsheets on product movements and coordinates with Accounting personnel as required to assure that volumes and product analysis are correct;

  • Maintains various pricing reports and updates contract pricing at month-end as required;

  • Updates and monitors forward pricing to identify upcoming risk and trading strategies;

  • Prepares accurate & timely inventory and supply/demand position reporting and other financial/non-financial information;

  • Conducts external research of issues as required, such as identifying and verifying data, quantifying data source and correctly applying data to the appropriate positions;

  • Supports and recommends negotiates contract terms and pricing to maximize revenues/EBITDA and utilization of Company assets;

  • Prepares annual revenue budget for assigned area; prepares weekly revenue forecasts and monthly report for activities in assigned area;

  • Identifies and gathers variety of internal data in usable forms;

  • Performs extensive data manipulation and analysis;

  • Coordinates with Operations, Engineering, Environmental, Legal and Accounting in the planning and implementation of new services


Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor's in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Business or related area

  • 0-8 years of related experience. Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

    • The Associate Analyst level requires a bachelor's degree and 0-2 years of relevant job-related experience

    • The Analyst level requires a bachelor's degree and 2-5 years of relevant job-related experience

    • The Senior Analyst level requires a bachelor's degree and 5-8 years of relevant job-related experience

  • Basic knowledge of petroleum product supply and distribution, refining, marketing, or trading including a general understanding of the factors influencing supply, demand, and pricing of petroleum products and ancillary services is preferred

  • Experience with terminal operations, pipelines, marketing petroleum terminology, and the ability to work in an unstructured dynamic environment is highly desired

  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, critical thinking, communication skills, and vigorous attention to detail

  • Inquisitive attitude and curiosity for learning, passionate, motivated, and proactive action-oriented inclination

  • High proficiency in Excel, and general proficiency in PowerPoint and Word are required

  • Experience with RightAngle, MarketView, and Power BI is preferred

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job:
  • Usually, normal office working conditions

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing

  • Occasional overnight travel may be required
