Position Highlights

The Community Outreach Assistant II contributes to the successful delivery of family support and community engagement programs offered through Family Resource Centers (FRC). This position coordinates and facilitates educational programming, parent-child activities, developmental screenings, and community outreach initiatives designed to strengthen families and promote child and family well-being.

Responsibilities include participant engagement, program implementation, recordkeeping, outreach support, and connecting families with community resources and services. The position collaborates with families, community partners, and program staff to create an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages participation, increases access to resources, and supports positive outcomes for children, parents, and caregivers.

This position will be located in Santa Cruz County, but will work primarily in Cochise County and Sierra Vista, and requires traveling to different FRC sites to staff the Centers and deliver community education classes.

Duties & Responsibilities

Program Delivery and Participant
Engagement:

  • Coordinate classroom preparation,
    program delivery, and post-session activities for family and community-based
    educational programs.
  • Facilitate educational sessions in
    accordance with established curricula, program standards, and organizational
    guidelines.
  • Promote participant engagement by
    providing guidance, resources, and constructive feedback that supports learning
    and skill development.
  • Maintain ongoing communication
    with participants regarding attendance, program expectations, and available
    support services.

Program Documentation and
Administrative Support:

  • Maintain accurate participant
    records, attendance documentation, assessments, and program-related data.
  • Assist with the collection and
    organization of information used for program evaluation and reporting
    requirements.
  • Prepare and submit required
    documentation, forms, travel records, and purchasing requests in a timely
    manner.

Training and Professional
Development:

  • Participate in required training,
    meetings, and professional development activities to maintain program knowledge
    and effectiveness.
  • Apply best practices and learned
    techniques to support quality program delivery and participant success.
  • Maintain required certifications
    and professional development hours, as applicable.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
(KSAs):

  • Knowledge of principles and
    practices related to community outreach, family engagement, educational
    programming, and customer service.
  • Skill in communicating effectively
    with individuals from different backgrounds in both individual and group
    settings.
  • Ability to establish and maintain
    positive working relationships with participants, community partners, and
    internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to organize, maintain, and
    accurately document program records, participant information, and
    administrative activities.
  • Skill in coordinating multiple
    assignments, prioritizing responsibilities, and supporting program activities
    in a dynamic environment.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting community-based programs, educational initiatives, or family services.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating group activities, workshops, trainings, or educational presentations.
  • Experience working with different populations and connecting individuals or families to community resources and services.
  • Experience with data entry, recordkeeping, and maintaining program documentation in accordance with established procedures.
