Position Highlights

The Department of Psychology at the University of Arizona seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Social/Personality Psychology. We are seeking applicants who will expand departmental empirical and/or methodological perspectives. We will consider all candidates with a productive research program in any area of social/personality psychology. Preferred, but not required, areas of expertise include data science (e.g., cutting-edge data collection and statistical methods) and/or health applications, for example pertaining to the UA Research Initiative on AI and healthcare .

The faculty member will teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels and contribute to mentoring students from various backgrounds. In line with the University of Arizona's Core Values , the ideal candidate will contribute to the teaching and mentorship of our growing and dynamic student body. We are also seeking applicants who are motivated to participate in outreach within Tucson's rich community and contribute to departmental, college, and university service.

The Department of Psychology has a robust record of interdisciplinary and collaborative research, with particular strengths in the areas of health psychology and health disparities, aging research, social affective neuroscience, methodological innovation, especially in the area of real-world assessment, prejudice reduction, cultural psychology, and the intersection between social, personality, and clinical psychology. We seek an exceptional scholar who will make connections across Psychology programs and with other departments as exemplified by the many interdisciplinary centers across the university. Applicants are expected to maintain an active research program with extramural funding.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Record of potential to maintain an active research program.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated potential to strengthen departmental empirical and/or methodological perspectives.
  • Demonstrated potential to contribute to and add breadth to the Social/Personality Program.
  • Demonstrated strengths in the areas of data science or health applications.
