Job Description: The Instructional Coach for School Improvement will oversee the school improvement plan (CSIP) process, conduct data analysis, serve as the school's testing coordinator, provide training and support on formative & summative assessment to staff, provide guidance in PLCs, assist staff in the utilization of data to drive instruction, develop workshops based on academic needs, and provide additional support as warranted for the Core Knowledge curriculum framework. This is 10-month, 195 day Licensed position reports to the School Principal, at John Adams Elementary School. Qualifications:
- Education: A Bachelor's Degree from an Accredited College or University in Education or a related field, and A Master's degree.
- Certification/Licensure: A Valid Virginia Department of Education Teaching Collegiate or PostGraduate License, with an endorsement in a Elementary Education, or a Secondary Content Area.
- Additional Qualifications:
- Data Wise or some data training preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching or school leadership experience, preferably in an urban, Title I, or IB environment.
- Demonstrated success in using data to drive instructional decisions and improve student outcomes.
- Proven experience leading schools out of federal accountability status, including successful support of targeted or comprehensive school improvement plans.
- Experience in managing federal grant funding, including Title I and School Improvement Grants, with alignment to school improvement goals, compliance monitoring, and strategic planning.
- Background in coordinating assessments, overseeing testing protocols, and analyzing student achievement data
- Experience in AVID implementation, including support of WICOR strategies and promotion of a college- and career-ready culture.
- Proficiency in Excel, Google Suite, MS Office, and educational data platforms such as EduClimber or Performance Matters.
Essential Functions:
- Assists teachers and grade-level teams with the implementation of the Virginia Standards of Learning
- Works with teachers to improve classroom management and climate through the implementation of effective instructional methods
- Analyzes student and teacher test data to determine teaching and learning effectiveness for each concept taught
- Analyzes student test data and advises teachers and appropriate staff on trends, outcomes, needs, and effective practices
- Recommends changes to current practices, approaches, methods, strategies, and assessments as needed Demonstrates, monitors, and evaluates the application of effective teaching strategies
- Recommends best practices to achieve the desired student learning outcomes
- Serves as the liaison for professional learning between Title I/Curriculum and the school
- Coordinates site-based professional learning activities as needed
- Conducts professional development at the school as needed
- Informs faculty of professional development opportunities
- Participates in periodic professional learning activities
- Facilitate the school's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) process by coordinating the identification, implementation, progress monitoring, and review of interventions for students requiring additional academic and/or behavioral support, with a particular focus on ensuring students receive and are appropriately monitored through Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
- Performs other Title I duties as assigned by the Principal or Title I Grant Manager
Compensation:
- Step Placement and Salary for this position is deteremined by The ACPS Teachers and Other Licensed Staff Salary Scale
- FLSA Status: Exempt position - This position is classified as exempt, meaning it is not eligible for overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

- Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
