Job Overview

University of Cincinnati Clermont (UCC) seeks applicants for Adjunct Faculty positions in our new Associate of Applied Science in Rural Population Health and Associate of Science in Public Health degree programs. Grounded in a population health framework, our public health programs emphasize wellness, prevention, service, and community engagement. In support of the programs' mission and vision, and the mission of the UCC, we approach public health as the study and promotion of conditions that foster human potential and reduce barriers to optimal health and well-being. We are seeking dynamic and engaged faculty who will bring a creative, student-centered approach to classroom and online instruction. Once hired, adjunct faculty in rural population and public health may be invited to teach and develop courses as needed. On a part-time limited basis, the Adjunct Faculty member's primary academic functions include teaching, discovering, creating, and reporting knowledge to a diverse set of students within the Public Health and Rural Population Health programs.

Essential Functions
  • Primarily responsible for the instruction, supervision, and evaluation of students in the classroom (in person or online environment) as well as course assessments for the department.
  • Prepare a syllabus for each course taught using the college template and requirements.
  • Teach class in a professional manner, teaching the material that is present in the syllabus and course outline.
  • Start and end each class on time.
  • Communicate your teaching and student office hours schedule for each term and be present in person or virtually during student office hours.
  • Appropriately maintain all necessary records for each course taught.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and events as appropriate and as requested by the Program Coordinator, Department Chair or Associate Dean.
  • Cultivate in oneself and others a commitment to helpfulness, building relationships, collaborating to find the best solution, and serving students with care and integrity.
  • Participating in accreditation activities
  • Participating in program recruitment efforts as requested.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned or requested
Minimum Requirements
  • Master's degree in public health or a bachelor's degree with extensive relevant experience.

Education, Training and/or Experience
  • A minimum of five (5) years of teaching or related professional experience is required.
Required Trainings/Certifications
  • Certified Health Education Specialist credential or Certified Doula certificate required.

  • Strong teaching, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Commitment to empowering students as scholars and professionals.
  • Exceptional writing skills and experience.
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential student information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong multimedia and computer skills.
  • Commitment to an ethic of care and service.
  • Strong inclination to collaboration, teamwork and personal responsibility.
Additional Qualifications Considered
  • A doctoral degree in Public Health or a closely related field is preferred. Candidates with a master's degree a graduate degree in a related field with relevant coursework and/or professional experience will also be considered.
  • Research, service or administrative experience in Public Health or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience developing, designing, or implementing new courses is preferred.
  • Experience in the following areas doula training, healthcare administration, epidemiology /or nutrition is preferred.
  • Service in healthcare systems, clinics or public health organizations is highly desirable.
  • Certified Health Education Specialist credential or CPH is preferred.
