The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Pediatric Critical Care is seeking a full-time Research Services Professional or Research Services Senior Professional to join a research program investigating the mechanistic drivers of pulmonary hypertension (PH) across the lifespan. The successful candidate will contribute to two related lines of investigation: (1) macrophage-extracellular matrix interactions that govern vascular remodeling in PH, and (2) maternal stress signaling pathways that predispose offspring to pulmonary vascular disease. This position offers the opportunity to work across in vivo mouse models, cell/tissue-based assays, and advanced molecular techniques (e.g., flow cytometry, spatial transcriptomics, single-cell sequencing) within a collaborative, translationally oriented lab environment.
Responsibilities include performing experiments using mouse models of PH and primary cell culture, as well as flow cytometry, ELISA, Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and microscopic analysis. The role also involves maintaining an accurate database, participating in data analysis, and managing project records and protocol organization. Additional responsibilities include developing new lab protocols and, potentially, supervising trainees (students) and training new lab personnel.

Key Responsibilities: Intermediate Level:
Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects Perform experiments and tabulate and analyze research data Support the analytical testing process using standard lab support knowledge in the collection and review of conditions, including preserving samples, completing sample preparation, documenting and communicating results Perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical test processes and evaluate results produced Prepare lab for daily operations, including stocking materials, equipment, safety, cleanliness, and related areas Provide animal care related to research studies, as necessary Pick up, transport, and maintain results, samples, documents, materials, and other items as needed Dispose of laboratory materials and samples using well-established guidelines and instructions Review, complete, and process logs, documents, databases, and related materials and information Provide support researching issues and developing recommendations to resolve process, unit and related issues Assist in the review and implementation of lab support policies, practices, and programs to meet organizational, operations, and management needs Assist with ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations; receive guidance and direction or escalate when required Independently and creatively identify laboratory solutions Independently Review, develop, and implement new or modified laboratory techniques required for research projects Assist Team Leads, Supervisors and/or management with creation and implementation of processes and procedures and quality improvement initiatives Assist and train junior team members
Senior Level, all above and:
Assist with developing or develop protocol-specific systems and documents including process flows, training manuals, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Maintains subject-level documentation and prepares documents, equipment, and/or supplies Assist with identifying issues related to operational efficiency and share results with leadership Provide laboratory science expertise and leadership in study design, study oversight, data management, data analysis and manuscript preparation to assist all levels of investigators, researchers and clinicians on new research activities across a wide range of disciplines Serve as a resource to PIs and other stakeholders
Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
Conduct bench work including: Perform basic laboratory studies, including: Molecular and Biochemical research; cell culture, transfections, ELISA, Western blot, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology, flow cytometry, biochemical assays, microscopic analysis, small rodent (mouse) work excluding genotyping and colony management Train/supervise junior lab members in bench work Lab management including:
Contributing to organization and overall maintenance of lab Organization of data Overseeing maintenance of lab equipment Maintaining lab protocols Training new lab personnel as appropriate

Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field
One (1) year of professional-level research experience
Senior Level:
Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field
Two (2) years of professional-level research experience

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:
Intermediate Level: $52,030 to $69,720 Senior Level: $56,249 to $75,373
