Director of Nursing (RN) | Charlotte, NC

We are seeking an experienced Director of Nursing to lead our clinical care and support a person centered approach for residents who call our community home.

As a hands on people leader and team player, you will oversee nursing operations, develop clinical staff, and create an environment where team members feel valued, supported, and accountable. You will champion our person centered, small house model of care, ensuring that resident autonomy, dignity, and individual needs guide clinical decisions.

What You'll Do:



  • Work alongside clinical staff and collaborate across departments to address challenges and meet resident needs.
  • Hire, coach, and develop qualified clinical staff who embrace the organization's person centered vision.
  • Provide ongoing education, constructive feedback, and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Recognize team contributions, address concerns promptly, and help staff feel valued and equipped to succeed.
  • Set clear expectations and hold staff accountable with fairness, consistency, and respect.
  • Be a visible leader who listens to staff, welcomes feedback, and provides practical support.
  • Lead, organize, and monitor the Nursing Department's structure and daily operations.
  • Monitor the clinical budget and meet established financial targets.
  • Partner with staff and organizational leadership to identify opportunities to improve care delivery and department performance.
  • Support staff in understanding and consistently following clinical standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor staff adherence to safety, security, infection control, and hazardous materials policies and procedures.
  • Ensure nursing policies and practices remain aligned with applicable North Carolina and federal regulations.
  • Implement and monitor evidence based clinical policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Build and maintain positive, productive relationships with residents, families, and community members.
  • Monitor admissions to ensure residents receive the level of care appropriate to their clinical needs.
  • Oversee the care planning process, including the Minimum Data Set (MDS) and meetings involving residents and their care partners.
  • Conduct regular clinical rounds to assess adherence to care plans, respect for resident preferences, and the effectiveness of care outcomes


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in North Carolina.
  • Previous nursing administrative experience.
  • Working knowledge of applicable North Carolina and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Strong communication, management, and collaborative leadership skills.
  • Ability to lead, develop, organize, and monitor nursing department operations.
  • Strong observational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to resident autonomy, dignity, choice, and person-centered care.
