The Center for Psychological Services at the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (
GSAPP) at Rutgers University is a state-of-the art training Center providing assessment and therapeutic services to both the university and the community at-large. The Center for Psychological Services (
CPS) has three divisions: a General Clinic which follows a more traditional community mental health center providing services to those on campus and the surrounding communities and works closely with the academic programs to provide training cases and also administers a centralized intake process for psychotherapy and assessment cases, an Assessment Clinic providing psychological evaluations and assessments for the surrounding communities, general university community and the Rutgers University Office of Disability, and Specialty Clinics led by faculty and staff to provide specialized services and training. These training clinics operate under the umbrella of
CPS and are funded generally through clinic revenue, grants and contracts, and include:
ADHD Clinic, Anxiety Disorders Clinic, Dialectical Behavior Therapy Program, Group Psychotherapy Services, Children (and Families) Healing After Trauma (
CHAT) Clinic, Tourette Syndrome Clinic, the
ANSWER CIinic, and the
CYSEW Emerging Adult Clinic. Approximately 150 students from three
APA accredited doctoral level psychology programs (Clinical and School Psy.D. at
GSAPP and clinical Ph.D. in the psychology department) and 50 master's degree students are provided with clinical training at the center that provides services to over 700 clients annually. |

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Director for the Center for Psychological Services (
CPS).
Reporting to the Dean at
GSAPP, this position oversees the delivery of a broad range of psychological services to the community and facilitates professional level training for students. The successful candidate will work closely with GSAPP's academic programs-the Directors of Clinical Training as well as Core Faculty from both the School and Clinical Psy.D. programs - to implement the training aims and objectives of the doctoral program and the directors of GSAPP's Applied Programs to address training needs of Masters students. The Director is also expected to work closely with other
GSAPP Centers that provide psychological services, including the Douglass Developmental Disability Center and the Rutgers Center for Adult Autism Services. In addition, the position partners with the Dean on strategic initiatives relevant to the training of psychology related professionals and alumni engagement.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Handles the overall administration of CPS services and programs and for the management of day-to-day operations.
- Provides leadership and vision for the CPS that balances students' educational goals, client care and the financial sustainability of the Center.
- Manages a team of 8-10 professional staff including an Assistant Director, Psychologists, an Administrative Coordinator, several doctoral level Clinical Supervisors, and 20 or more part-time graduate and undergraduate student staff.
- Demonstrates a high standard of professional conduct and adherence to ethical and legal standards in the operation of the CPS.
- Establishes and ensures quality standards for training graduate students.
- Determines policies and procedures for operating the Center.
- Plans, reviews ,and monitors the budget.
- Establishes client fee schedules.
- Leads fundraising efforts related to CPS initiatives.
- Recruits and establishes effective relationships with professional psychologists to provide supervision of ongoing delivery of clinical services.
- Forms partnerships with community organizations and working with GSAPP marketing and communications to ensure adequate client flow in CPS for training purposes.
- Oversees staffing decisions including creating, hiring and eliminating positions as necessary.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Doctoral degree in professional psychology, NJ license eligibility.
- At least five (5) years of professional clinical and administrative experience including: assessment, psychotherapy, crisis management and mental health service delivery systems.

- Applicants must be licensed as a doctoral-level psychologist in New Jersey, with preference given to candidates who have completed an APA-accredited doctoral program in clinical or school psychology and an APA-accredited psychology internship. Previous training and clinic/behavioral health administration experience is required.
