Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, community-rooted faculty member to join our department as Assistant Professor and Clinical Coordinator. This is a tenure-track position that carries both didactic teaching responsibilities and leadership of our clinical education infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings relevant clinical and academic experience, a genuine understanding of the Nashville and regional CSD community, and a demonstrated commitment to student development and program growth.

This role is not simply about filling a position, it is an opportunity to help shape the future of a program with significant momentum and deep ties to the communities it serves.

Primary Responsibilities

Teaching & Instruction

  • Teach a variety of undergraduate courses across the CSD curriculum, with flexibility to cover multiple content areas as program needs evolve
  • Develop and deliver instruction that integrates evidence-based practice with faith-informed learning consistent with Lipscomb's academic mission

Clinical Coordination

  • Manage and expand student clinical placements across Nashville and surrounding communities
  • Cultivate and maintain partnerships with clinical sites, community organizations, and regional healthcare and educational partners
  • Oversee clinical skills development for undergraduate students, ensuring alignment with ASHA standards and program goals
  • Support students in developing the professional competencies and community awareness needed for successful entry into graduate programs and the workforce

Program Development

  • Contribute actively to the growth and development of the undergraduate CSD program
  • Identify opportunities to expand the program's clinical reach and community impact within Nashville and the broader region
  • Participate in departmental planning, curriculum development, and accreditation-related activities
  • Engage in scholarly activity consistent with tenure-track expectations

Qualifications

Required

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Current Tennessee licensure in Speech-Language Pathology (or eligibility to obtain prior to start date)
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in speech-language pathology
  • Commitment to undergraduate teaching and student mentorship
  • Familiarity with or strong interest in the Nashville and regional CSD professional community

Preferred

  • Earned doctorate (Ed.D. or Ph.D.) in a related field such as literacy, speech science, education, or leadership
  • Experience in clinical education, student supervision, or clinical program coordination
  • Established relationships with clinical partners or community organizations in the Nashville area
  • Experience teaching across multiple areas of the undergraduate CSD curriculum
  • Demonstrated capacity for program-building and community engagement

Who We're Looking For

More than a list of credentials, we are looking for someone who:

  • Knows and is invested in this community: Nashville's clinical and professional landscape is an asset to our students, and we want someone who understands and can leverage it
  • Wants to grow with us: this program is building something, and we want a colleague who is energized by that, not just looking for a stable position
  • Puts students first: every decision in this role should trace back to what best serves our students' development and future
  • Brings both depth and range: comfort teaching across the undergraduate curriculum is essential; intellectual curiosity and adaptability are valued
  • Aligns with Lipscomb's mission: our program operates within a faith-informed academic community dedicated to learning, leading, and serving

Candidates must apply formally through Lipscomb University's applicant tracking system via myLipscomb/UltiPro. Informal inquiries, letters of interest, or resumes submitted outside the formal system will not be considered as part of the official candidate pool.
