Position Summary:
The High School Math Instructor will be responsible for teaching the following courses: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra 11 or Pre-calculus/Calculus.

Essential Functions:
- To conduct an integrated academic math class (Algebra I,
Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-calculus/Calculus) teach students learning
strategies.
- Conduct teaching and instructional activities using educational
equipment, manipulative objects, props, and other learning aids.
- Prepare and
submit a course outline prior to the start of the class, assist with the
planning, instruction, and evaluation of tutoring and problem-solving
activities.
- Complete paperwork associated with classroom and project
management.
- Make recommendations on students' strength and needs.
- Report
student learning and behavioral issues to the appropriate staff personnel.
- Assist with the training and evaluation of Teacher Assistants.
- The instructor is required to attend training and
meetings.
- In the event of an absence
please provide 24-hour notice.
- Classroom work must be prepared for students and
the TA must be prepared to deliver work to students in the absence of an
instructor.

Additional Functions:
- Transport
students from one class location to another in a timely manner, ensuring proper
supervision and safety of students.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Two or more years of teaching experience at the high school
or post-secondary level.
- Complete a background clearance check.
- Ability to
plan, organize, develop and conduct a comprehensive instructional tutoring
program for students enrolled in the Upward Bound Program.
- Undergraduate or
graduate degree in the designated discipline.
- Experience working with minority
and disadvantaged students at the middle school, high school or post-secondary
level.
- At the university's discretion, the
education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can
demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of
education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in
the position.
