Salary range:
The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay at appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $82,200 - $218,500. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description

The Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Public Health (http://med.ucsd.edu/) in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego, is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and is currently recruiting outstanding faculty for a tenured position.

The successful candidate will have the exciting opportunity to facilitate clinical and translational research in the area of HIV epidemiology within a great university and prominent health system. The candidate will provide lectures in the ID Fellow lecture series, patient-based teaching in the clinic and hospital, and mentoring to junior faculty, postdocs, fellows, residents, and medical students. The successful candidate will also engage in outpatient clinical activities and patient care.

The appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience. Series will include 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding or 100% Ladder Rank.

As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities, and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent, PhD, or MD/PhD with an emphasis relevant to Infectious Diseases and Global Public Health.

Candidates with an MD or equivalent must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Candidates with an MD or equivalent must be board-certified or board-eligible in Infectious Diseases.

Candidates must have a track record of outstanding research, a track record of excellent teaching, and successful leadership experience. Candidates must also have national recognition in clinical, translational, and/or basic research with a history of extramural research funding and publications in high-impact journals

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with experience as faculty advisors or educators for medical students, residents, fellows, graduate, and/or post-graduate trainees are preferred.

Candidates with experience working with diverse groups of students, populations, faculty, etc. are preferred.
