Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are seeking two Civil Engineers with professional licensure to join our Savannah, GA office. The successful candidate will support concept planning, site civil design, preparation of construction documents, and construction administration of complex projects such as port/cargo terminals, railroad/intermodal yards, industrial facilities, waterfront community development, and municipal projects throughout the area. Experience on large, complex projects with ongoing operations during construction will be an asset to your success for this position! As the successful new hire, you will have 6 to 10 years of experience working on heavy civil projects that includes: concept planning, drainage modeling, detailed design of sanitary sewer, water distribution, storm drainage, grading, and pavement, and preparation of construction drawings and specifications. You will have strong communication skills and will be committed to assisting with the leading of projects and teams.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare design documents and reports for civil site development (site layout, grading, storm water, erosion control, utilities, and other infrastructure systems)
  • Ability to plan, schedule work, and complete work assignments within established budget and timelines
  • Perform calculations, cost estimates, prepare drawings and technical specifications
  • Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans
  • Coordinate civil design staff along with other disciplines to meet project schedules and budgets
  • Perform limited field observations in support of construction and data collection
  • Attend client meetings as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer license
  • 6 to 10 years of civil site design experience (familiarity with complex sites and movement of heavy equipment is strongly desired)
  • Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Strong communication (written, verbal, and presentation) skills are a must
  • AutoCAD and Civil3D experience
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Physical requirements:

Majority of work is office based and requires long periods of computer work. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
