Job Summary:



The Department of Neurology at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking to recruit a dynamic candidate to expand its clinical and/or basic science research programs within the Neurology Department. The position is full time faculty, with the opportunity for academic promotion, which is determined on criteria of demonstrated excellence in the areas of education, research, clinical care, and community service. The Department of Neurology provides ample research space, dedicated clinical, academic, and research support, and our various subspecialties. The Department of Neurology has subspecialties in the areas of Epilepsy, Movement Disorders, Behavioral Neurology, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Neuro-Virology, Palliative Care, Neuromuscular Medicine, Consultative Neurology, Headache, Neuro-Immunology/Multiple Sclerosis, Neurohospitalist/Vascular, Neuro-Oncology, and Sleep/Medicine.

Job duties in this faculty position will include clinical, teaching, research, and service responsibilities. The overall determination of research and clinical activities and allocation of time and effort will be subject to the determination of the Department Chair and Section Head.

Clinical duties may include responsibilities at the faculty-level for in-patient / out-patient services as well as consultations, and emergency consultation of the Neurology Department. While on service, obligations will include supervision of medical students, residents, and some fellows, supervision of patient procedures, and teaching of the house-staff as well as students.

Teaching activities include attending neurology services, leading teaching conferences and training medical students, residents, and fellows.

Administrative responsibilities will include data entry into hospital systems, development of critical pathways, committee work, and projects aimed at improving the specialty and department mission. It is assumed the bulk of this non-clinical time will be spent working toward the production of scholarship activities. Attendance at meetings and educational events of the department and specialty programs is expected. Other duties may be assigned as need arises.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Assistant Professor



  • MD or DO
  • Experience in an academic hospital setting
  • Board Certified Neurologist
  • Completed fellowship training in Neuroimmunology, or documented longstanding care or research in this field
  • A record of ongoing research activity and funding
  • A State of Colorado medical license and DEA license must be obtained on or before hire date
  • Applicants must have a scholarly and academic record consistent with appointment at the Assistant Professor level in the School of Medicine


Associate Professor



  • MD or DO
  • Experience in an academic hospital setting
  • Board Certified Neurologist
  • Completed fellowship training in Neuroimmunology, or documented longstanding care or research in this field
  • A record of ongoing research activity and funding
  • A State of Colorado medical license and DEA license must be obtained on or before hire date
  • Applicants must have a scholarly and academic record consistent with appointment at the Associate Professor level in the School of Medicine


Professor



  • MD or DO
  • Experience in an academic hospital setting
  • Board Certified Neurologist
  • Completed fellowship training in Neuroimmunology, or documented longstanding care or research in the field
  • A record of ongoing research activity and funding
  • A State of Colorado medical license and DEA license must be obtained on or before hire date.
  • Applicants must have a scholarly and academic record consistent with appointment at the Professor level in the School of Medicine


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Eligible to obtain other states' unrestricted medical licenses, if necessary

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor - $195,000 - $210,000

Associate Professor - $200,000 - $242,000

Professor - $220,000 - $300,000

This position is eligible for the department incentive plan which would be in addition to the base salary.

It is anticipated that salary will be commensurate with American Association of Medical College (AAMC) benchmarks for the proposed senior academic rank (Associate Professor or Professor level). Specific salary is commensurate with skills and experience.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
