We are seeking a Civil Engineer with 6 to 10 years of experience in water resources and site or land development design to join our team in Raleigh, NC. As the chosen candidate, you will play a crucial role in project management and team leadership. Drawing upon your expertise in design, construction drawing preparation, and document creation, you will contribute to various complex projects, ranging from port/cargo terminal uplands to resiliency initiatives aimed at mitigating flood-prone areas. Your responsibilities will encompass guiding projects from initial concept development to crafting construction documents, plan sets, and permit applications. These projects will span municipal and federal ventures across the southeast and Caribbean. Through our collaborative interoffice workshare program, we aim to expand your competencies in new regions. Your role will provide opportunities to work on large-scale multidisciplinary projects, utilizing project phasing plans to minimize disruptions to ongoing facility operations.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare design documents and reports for civil site development (site layout, grading, storm water, erosion control, utilities, and other infrastructure systems)
  • Creates feasibility studies by analyzing engineering design, conducting environmental impact studies, and assembling data
  • Plan, schedule work, and complete work assignments within established budget and timelines
  • Perform calculations, prepare cost estimates, prepare drawings, develop project technical specifications, and write reports
  • Mentor and assist junior engineers and designers in developing final design plans
  • Coordinate civil design staff along with other disciplines to meet project schedules and budgets
  • Perform limited field observations in support of construction and data collection
  • Attend client meetings as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer licensure in North Carolina or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hire
  • 6 to 10 years of civil site design experience (familiarity with complex sites is desired)
  • Competence in general civil engineering design is required including grading, drainage, hydraulics and hydrology, stormwater, erosion & sediment control, water main, sanitary sewer, force main, or roadway
  • Experience and willingness to perform site assessments and construction observations when needed
  • Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Ability to travel and perform occasional construction observation on projects outside of the USA
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft Word, and Excel is required
  • Proficiency with XPSWMM, WaterCAD, and/or SewerGEMS is desired
  • A background in pump station and force main design is desired
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Physical requirements:

The position requires long periods of computer work, interacting with others and potentially attending client meetings. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
