Position Title:Manager of Business Banking Underwriting

Business Unit:Credit

Reports to:Director of Commercial Credit Underwriting and Portfolio Management

Position Overview:

Responsible for the Business Banking loan underwriting function, risk management and optimizing delivery of approvals aligned to bank standards, policies, and regulations, making recommendations when warranted. Position oversees new loan underwriting and existing portfolio metrics by managing team leaders to ensure timely and accurate risk ratings on a wide range of loan requests while managing group wide workflow, performance metrics and training initiatives. Position will have and oversee approval authority and recommend appropriate structures and risk/mitigants where applicable.

Primary Responsibilities:

Ensures underwriting product is consistent and sustains satisfactory reviews by regulators, internal andexternal auditors and loan review for depth of underwriting, appropriateness of structure, identification of policy exceptions and critical data points stress tested analysis of credits underwritten. Makes recommendations for process and policy improvements to capture risk appetite.

Manages a team of Business Banking Underwriting Team Leaders and ensures group wide performance and portfolio metrics are achieved. Provides training and guidance in completion of credit analyses for direct reports and other team members, including Relationship Managers.

Acts as a senior loan adjudication resource in the business banking loan process within prescribed lending authority and credit risk appetite. Oversees and manages certain approval authority for Team Leaders.

Assists department Director in communicating risk appetite to team and Business Bankers to ensure salient credit risks are fully discussed in the underwriting process. Reinforces adherence to credit quality standards and concentration limits within the portfolio.

Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
