For more than 140 years, The Family Partnership has built strong families, vital communities, and better futures for children. We fulfill our mission through counseling, education, and advocacy, primarily in the greater Minneapolis and St. Paul area. The Family Partnership was founded in 1878 as the Minneapolis Humane Society to protect and serve children that were being abused or exploited. Along with a few name changes, our work has continually transformed to anticipate and address the evolving needs of families and individuals, many of whom are the most vulnerable in our community.

Wages and Benefits

$18.00 per hour; $1,000 hiring bonus after 3 months of employment; Generous paid time off, plus 10 paid holidays; competitive health, dental, and vision insurance; health savings account (HSA), and options for flexible spending accounts (FSA). There is employer paid basic life insurance with the option for additional coverage paid by the employee. The employer pays the premiums for Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) and long-term disability insurance. TFP sponsors a retirement plan with a tiered vesting schedule based on years of service, plus a 2% employer contribution after one year of service.

Job Summary

The Family Partnership is seeking a Teacher's Aide to support their Four Directions Family Center, which is a full-day therapeutic education and care program for children aged 6 weeks to 11 years of age. The center is committed to the revitalization of the Dakota and Ojibway languages. We work with our partner Wicoie Nandagikendan to provide language immersion and culturally responsive early childhood education. The Teacher's Aide will provide assistance to Lead Teachers in the center by supporting classroom and weekly activities.

Responsibilities



  • Assisting in maintaining a safe, stimulating, and nurturing learning environment that ensures all children have a positive experience.
  • Assisting with daily cleaning responsibilities, including cleaning and disinfecting toys and tables.
  • Instructing children in the proper use of classroom materials.
  • Assisting with mealtimes, toileting, and diaper changes.
  • Observing and supervising children during free play, snack, and nap times.
  • Assisting children in resolving conflicts in ways that support their developmental needs.
  • Assisting the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans, including material preparation and cleanup for activities.
  • Assisting and guiding children in completing activities and projects.



Who You Are



  • You bring a genuine love for working with children and a strong desire to continue learning about their developmental needs.
  • You are able to lift up to 50 pounds and meet the high level of physical movement required to care for young children.
  • You demonstrate knowledge of health and safety precautions, sanitation and cleaning techniques, and emergency response procedures.
  • You have the ability to use effective skills to manage and guide children's behavior in a supportive and developmentally appropriate manner.
  • You have the ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse population, including parents, children, and other professionals.
  • You possess excellent customer service skills.
  • You have knowledge of First Aid and CPR or demonstrate a willingness to obtain certification.
