We are actively looking for an Engineer to join our Savannah office and serve as Deputy Program Manager for the Georgia Ports Authority. This position will assist the Program Manager in leading and managing the conception, design, operation, and construction for a wide variety of infrastructure projects for one of the leading Port Authorities in the country. The ideal candidate has a background of project management, maintaining strong client relationships, experience in the design and construction management of large construction projects, experience working on a multi-disciplined team, and the acumen to learn how the client's facilities operate in order to initiate and develop creative solutions to help drive the client's expansion goals.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assists Program Manager in directing and supporting a team of project managers for port infrastructure projects
  • Interfaces with client on planning, design, and construction projects
  • Works with client and project team to establish and maintain project design and construction budgets
  • Establishes working relationships and contact with client's technical staff and project managers
  • Coordinates design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers
  • Participates in project decisions regarding technical approaches, costs and scheduling performance
  • Works with project managers to follow client operational policies and procedures
  • Perform/review calculations
  • Prepare design documents, cost estimates, reports, drawings, and technical specifications for port projects

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; required
  • 8+ years of experience in civil or marine/waterfront structural engineering; required
  • Port experience preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Georgia or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hire
  • Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC); required
  • 4+ years of project management experience required with large, multi-disciplined projects preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel; required
  • Opportunity to travel both domestically and internationally, if desired
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post-offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
