Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Daily Meal Delivery

1. Review meal delivery schedule to identify changes (additions/deletions). Update
route schedule based on verified changes.
2. Verify meal count, pack meal items using proper containers and ice packs to
assure temperature control of 40 degrees or less throughout meal delivery.
3. Deliver only and exclusive meals, side dishes, and newspaper to clients along the route.
4. Twice a month use thermometer in containers to verify temperature. Record temps at
end of the route on a route sheet.
5. Document each delivery (client signature) and provide a daily record to OAP Statistician.
6. Provide immediate short-term assistance to clients as needed.
7. Report, daily, all undeliverable meals to OAP Scheduler/Operations Manager.

2. Special Route

1. Deliver meals, as scheduled, for congregate meal sites.
2. Clean and sanitize meal site Cambro carriers daily, thorough external cleaning at least
twice a month.
3. Pick-up and deliver mail/messages between OAP office, congregate sites, DHQ, and other
locations as assigned and/or needed.
4. D. Deliver meals, as assigned, for the multiple delivery routes, following duties outlined
above. Daily Meal Delivery.

3. Vehicle Responsibility

1. Daily inspection and check of air, water, oil, and other items necessary to maintain
equipment in safe operating condition. Fuel vehicle daily and wash as needed.
2. Regular review of vehicle maintenance schedule informs the supervisor of needed
vehicle maintenance.
3. Immediately report to the supervisor all accidents involving the vehicle, personal injury, or
property damage. A complete written report on return to the project office. Always keep
accident reports in the vehicle.

Position Requirements:

1. Have or be able to obtain and maintain basic First Aid and CPR certificates.
2. Participate in training to be able to assess client health and function at the paraprofessional
level.
3. Additional related training as it becomes available.
4. Must be able to regularly lift to 50 pounds.
5. Able to work out-of-doors and in extreme weather conditions.

Qualifications:

1. High School or equivalent or at least two years' experience working in a job-related field.
2. English language ability is sufficient to understand and carry out instructions and accurately
complete required documentation.
3. Map-reading ability.
4. Current Alaska Driver's License with a clean driving record.
5. Ability to pass Alaska Fingerprinting background requirements.
6. Excellent interpersonal skills.

Software-related Skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook familiarity preferred. Working
knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic
training.

Language Skills: Must be able to understand, follow and give both written and oral instructions and
be comfortable working with diverse individuals in face-to-face contact and over the telephone. The
employee must be able to use speech and hearing for ordinary and telephone conversation.

Mathematical Skills: Must be able to perform simple calculations (addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division) and apply concepts such as ratios and percentages in practical situations.
Performance Skills: Must be punctual, organized, self-motivated, flexible, and possess a desire to
learn and assist those he/she interacts with.

Protect the Mission: Must complete the online course for this area and pass the Background
Checks required by The Salvation Army for employment.
Driver Requirements: Must be a licensed driver with acceptable driving history. Must also complete
and pass The Salvation Army Driver Safety Course.
