Job Summary

This is a 50% Contract Position

Direct and oversee all medical care rendered to patients within the designated lower acuity area of
the Emergency Department while on duty. Supervise the clinical care, procedures, charting, and
interactions with patients and staff by residents, interns, students.

The position requires a license to practice medicine issued by the California Board of Medical
Examiners and Board Certification in Pediatrics.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description

Emergency Medicine is a broad field and our faculty have a number of clinical and research interests. Areas of existing research expertise within our new department already include cardiac arrest, pre-hospital EMS care (including strokediagnosis and management), ultrasound diagnostic techniques, health policy (especially ED crowding, ambulance diversion, utilization of the ED by indigents, and health disparities), procedural sedation, infectious disease management.

  • Requires possession of a license to practice medicine issued by the California Board of Medical Examiners
  • Must be Board eligible or Board Certified in Pediatrics
  • Current DEA certification
