This role is a part of the test team within the Operations organization, providing centralized support to business units with a focus on the build, operation, and maintenance of the ground systems and test infrastructure across multiple locations.

In this role, you will support the definition, development, operation, and maintenance of Blue Origin's test activities in Florida. This is a hands-on engineering position for testing components and systems supporting all Blue Origin business units.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, direct technician work, and coordinate with internal customers

  • Coordinate with business unit partners to define, plan, and complete testing

  • Develop and execute test plans and procedures; perform subsequent data reduction and reviews

  • Design, define, procure, and install system components and materials

  • Deeply understand and troubleshoot test systems

  • Proactively prepare status updates and communicate both within the organization and with direct customers

  • Collaborate with, and mentor, other engineers in testing disciplines

  • Perform root cause, system hazard analysis, and failure investigations

  • Plan and oversee facility maintenance

  • Identify opportunities for safety improvements and cost savings

  • Demonstrate high standards in test operations and work cooperatively with a diverse team of Integration Engineers, Responsible Engineers, and BLUE customers to ensure requirements are met

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited program (Mechanical, Aerospace, or Physics desired)

  • 3-8 years of experience in the design, development, or operation of test systems or similar experimental research facilities

  • Ability and desire to understand complex systems, investigate and solve challenging problems, and work in a dynamic environment

  • Ability to conduct and/or oversee several test projects simultaneously while supporting operational schedules

  • Analytically driven with a strong commitment to safety

  • Must work well under pressure and take initiative to improve existing systems, processes, and documentation

  • Ability to support shift-work as needed to meet customer demands

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Established technical expertise in test stand design, operations, and maintenance

  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, SMC-S-016, and MIL-STD-1540

  • Formal or informal leadership experience

  • Experience with aerospace flight hardware

  • Knowledge of a variety of fluids; experience with cryogenics and monopropellants is a plus

  • Instrumentation and controls, and data acquisition systems experience, with preference towards National Instruments hardware

  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices, fabrication and integration processes, and quality control

  • Understanding/experience with hazardous operations and design for system safety

  • Strong Project Management skills to include budgeting and schedule development

  • Experience with 3D CAD tools and data management

  • Proficiency in LabView, Python, MATLAB
