Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time

Open Until Filled.

$22.05 to $24.26 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. South Area/Melbourne/Travels Countywide. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.Performs skilled crafts and trades work in the maintenance and repair of heavy diesel and/or gasoline vehicles and equipment.

REQUIREMENTS: Three (3) years of experience in heavy equipment mechanics, including one (1) year of diesel engine mechanics. Successful completion of coursework in heavy equipment mechanics or a closely related field at a post-secondary school may be substituted on a year for year basis for a maximum of one year (1,080 class hours [1 school year] = 1 year of experience; 120 class hours = 1 month of experience). Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, the following Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications: A7 or T7 - Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning; T2 - Diesel Engines; and T4 - Brakes, and maintain all certifications during the term of employment. This is heavy physical work performed outdoors and involves exposure to dirt, dust, odors and fumes, water, noise, insects, working in and around moving traffic and machinery, hazardous materials, and extreme weather conditions.In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
