The Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering (IMSE) at West Virginia University (WVU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level to support its ongoing expansion and the strategic initiative of enriching its online graduate education and research.

The anticipated start date is January 2025 or August 2025.

The position is open to all Industrial/Systems/Safety Engineering research areas. However, the faculty candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas are highly desirable:



  • Decision/systems analytics
  • Informatics/data science
  • Sustainable and green manufacturing


The position is expected to contribute to various industrial/systems/safety engineering sectors, including but not limited to healthcare, energy, human-machine interaction, supply chains, logistics, aviation, manufacturing, engineering management, occupational safety and health, and service engineering.

Qualifications

Eligible candidates must hold an earned doctorate in industrial/systems/safety Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline at the time of appointment.

The successful candidates must have the ability to (1) teach lecture (in-person and online), laboratory, or design courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, (2) develop and sustain an independent, nationally recognized, externally sponsored research program, (3) collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams of faculty and other researchers across colleges and institutions, and (4) be engaged in professional activities. Candidates for the rank of Associate Professor must have an outstanding record of teaching, research, and service.
