We are actively looking for a Senior Environmental Scientist with specialized experience in the coastal zone to join one of our South Florida offices (Miami, Fort Lauderdale, or West Palm Beach). As part of the Environmental Group, the Senior Environmental Scientist oversees environmental projects, impact assessments, regulatory feasibility assessments and other technical analyses in coordination with other professional design/consulting team members.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Develops client relations and government agencies to obtain environmental projects.
  • Oversees field assessments including taking measurements, performing standard geomorphic assessment procedures, recording data, taking photographs including preparation of NEPA documents, studies, impact analysis and impact summaries.
  • Manages technical calculations and analysis using established spreadsheets or software applications
  • Oversees technical reports and permit documents
  • Oversees obtaining Local/State/Federal coastal/marine environmental permitting
  • Oversees protected species assessment and permitting (both federal and state)
  • Oversees regulatory feasibility assessments and other technical analyses in coordination with other professional design/consulting team members
  • Oversees environmental impact assessment and environmental management plan development for international projects
  • Oversees data collection and project research related to impact of proposed project

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Biology, Geology, Marine, Environmental / Ecology, Coastal or related; required,
  • Master of Science/Arts in Marine Science, Environmental Science/Ecology, Coastal/Marine Engineering, Coastal Zone Management or similar natural or environmental sciences; preferred
  • Additional certification (PWS, CEP, certified soil scientist, etc.); preferred
  • 20+ years of relevant experience environmental / coastal experience; required
  • Related experience with NEPA/SEPA in the Florida; required
  • Demonstrated proficiency operating GPS and GIS equipment and support software
  • Proficiency with Gantt Charts (MS project), Google Earth, and GIS; AutoCAD
  • Experience in the implementation of current field sampling methods and data collection
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
