The Regional Manager, Inside Sales Business Renewals is responsible for meeting and exceeding annual financial and net sales goals for Macmillan products within a defined region. The regional manager is responsible for the recruitment and training of inside account managers. The regional manager is responsible for coordinating and orchestrating all training, sales resources, travel, and sales support throughout the region. This role manages other employees.

Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Hire, onboard, and train new Account Managers as needed.
  • Conduct day to day management of all direct reports including 1:1s, coaching, performance management.
  • Communicate, collaborate and coordinate with colleagues (regional managers, specialists, marketing and editorial colleagues) on top targets within the region.
  • Create and maintain a positive and collaborative team culture and morale by communicating clear, consistent expectations and ensuring every voice is heard.
  • Ensure that company systems and tools are leveraged for maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop and execute a business plan that maximizes the potential of the Macmillan product list in the assigned region.
  • Analyze sales territories, target specific sales opportunities, develop and implement new strategies to improve sales performance across the region.
  • Actively participate and contribute in the planning and implementation of regional and national sales meetings, marketing planning meetings, author meetings, training events, and other sales-related events.
  • Work closely with the Director of Inside Sales, Inside College Sales Regional Manager (Takeaways), and Customer Success to ensure that a shared vision, common goals, and macro strategies remain intact and are achieved.
  • Thorough and regular communication, weekly at minimum, with all direct reports in both directions.
  • Provide regular and timely communication to in-house colleagues on regional trends, product performance, and competitive landscape.
  • Create weekly pipeline reports.


Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelors degree.
  • 5 years' work experience in a Sales environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong data analysis skills - using tools like PowerBI, SFDC etc.
  • Leadership experience.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Publishing experience, management experience.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, including comfort and ability in generating and reading SFDC reports.


Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000/year

Exemption Status: Exempt

Physical Requirements:

Requires long periods of close concentration and strong multi-tasking skills.; Must be able to travel. Must be able to work over 40 hours a week regularly.

Preference will be given to applicants located near or in the Hamilton, New Jersey area and willing to work from the local office 2 days per week. Remote employment excludes the following locations: Alaska, Arkansas, Hawaii, Mississippi, Nevada, South Dakota, West Virginia, Wyoming.
