Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The MEHT Department consists of 15 full-time faculty members. The department serves over 500 undergraduate students and offers three Bachelor of Science degrees in: Marketing, Entrepreneurship, and Hospitality and Tourism Management. All three degrees are offered online and on campus. Additionally, the Department delivers courses in the undergraduate business core, and the MBA program. The North Carolina Sales Institute is also associated with the Department. Faculty members are active in research and have published in Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Research, Academy of Management Journal, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Service Research, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Small Business Management, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Small Business Economics, Tourism Management, International Small Business Journal, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Family Business Strategy, and other very high-quality journals. Faculty members in the Department have received external funding from agencies such as North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and National Institutes of Health.

The Bryan School has over 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students and more than 120 full- and part-time faculty members housed in six departments and programs. Accredited in both business and accounting by AACSB, and in the apparel design and merchandising area by TAPAC, the Bryan School is the recipient of many rankings, honors and accolades. The faculty and students are both impressive. For example, in recent years its tenure-stream faculty members averaged 2 to 3 peer-reviewed journal articles annually each, and collectively publish 15 to 20 in FT50 journals, plus 20 to 25 in other widely acknowledged ( CABS/ AJG) 4-level journals, in addition to books, publications in less prestigious journals, grants and contracts, and more than 100 editorial positions with peer-reviewed journals. Students have traditionally performed well in national and regional competitions. Position Summary
The Department of Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Hospitality & Tourism ( MEHT) in the Bryan School of Business and Economics at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro invites applications for a tenured Senior Associate or Full Professor position in Innovation. The position will commence on August 1, 2025. This is not a remote work position and upon hire, those selected must reside in North Carolina or within a reasonable commuting distance of it.

Performance expectations include: a) teaching via face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats; b) conducting research in innovation leading to publications in elite (e.g., FT 50 and CABS/ AJG 4*) and very high-quality (e.g., CABS/ AJG 4) refereed journals; and c) participating in professional, university, school, and department/program service. We are seeking teaching coverage in any the following areas: innovation, innovation strategy, and business communication and innovation. Online teaching is a requirement of this position, thus experience and a strong interest in online teaching will be considered.
Minimum Qualifications

  • A PhD degree from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited business school in Innovation. Alternatively, the PhD may be in Marketing, Entrepreneurship, or Management if there was also a concentration and/or a strong body of research and teaching in Innovation.
  • For this opening, a strong record of published research on innovation topics in elite (CABS/AJG 4*; FT 50) and premier (CABS/AJG 4) journals.
  • For appointment at the professor level or associate professor level, candidates must have a sufficient record of scholarly publications to be appointed with tenure. Associate professors must have a record that if continued would lead to promotion to full professor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • The ability to tie one's teaching and research to key elements of our mission (problem solving, innovation, globalization, sustainability, and ethics) will be considered positively.
  • We shall consider related business experience and experiential teaching through student consulting projects, but these are not requirements for the positions.
