We are currently recruiting for a per diem Child Life Specialist to provide coverage in a variety of pediatric settings, including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, radiology, phlebotomy, pediatric surgery, and the emergency department. Must have current Child Life certification.

This Per diem Child Life Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Participating in therapeutic activities and programs to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs, and facilitating adjustment to health care experiences for patients.
  • Serving as member of multidisciplinary team.
  • Providing coping support for patients and families when faced with trauma/grief
  • Delegating work assignments to volunteers and participating in clinical training of student interns.
  • Working on-call as needed to cover for staff vacations and vacancies.

To qualify, you must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life.
  • 600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist.
  • Child Life certification is required.
  • General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experiencedbased knowledge.
  • Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member.
