Product Safety and Compliance Engineer Senior

Position Description

Plans and performs a variety of complex engineering assignments to promote the safe and compliant use of products; ensures compliance with government standards and adoption of industry standards. Leads product safety reviews, tests and assessments for compliance with Federal, State and International standards, product compliance, emission regulations and/or product safety best practices,. Evaluates progress and results of projects and routinely communicates key regulatory issues. Acts as the primary Company representative for product specific compliance responsibility on external standard/regulatory setting panels for assigned area of responsibility. Leads field incidents and accident investigations. Recommends and directs changes in design, procedures or objectives as necessary.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Performs regulatory reviews during design and prior to production to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards and monitors emission performance of products compared to regulatory standards
  2. Develops strategies, test plans, and product safety risk assessments to meet compliance standards and regulations
  3. Leads the review and integration of messages and content in safety label design, communication reviews, technical publications, marketing displays and operating manuals
  4. Provides interpretations and guidance based upon research of global compliance standards and regulations and report findings
  5. Represents the company in the development of standards and recommends resolutions when necessary
  6. Leads product incident and accident investigations, root cause analysis and/or emission audit reviews; ,
  7. Represents Company for assigned areas of product specific compliance responsibility in consumer claim resolution, insurance and legal interrogatories, depositions, trials and assists in legal defense matters associated with incidents
  8. Leads the certification of engines and equipment to meet relevant standard; produces and submits compliance reports as required for government agencies, including but not limited to CPSC and EPA.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned
Job Skills Requirements
  • Expert knowledge of regulations and industry standards
  • Expert knowledge of the design, control and incorporation of safety controls and compliance strategies
  • Fundamental knowledge of outdoor power equipment
  • Excellent planning, organizational, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent education and experience
Experience Requirements

Minimum of 7years of experience in a related field preferred
