JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Campus Recreation communications is responsible for patron-facing general promotion and communication projects. The student-employee Graphic Design Specialistis responsible for communicating ideas through images and layout of digital and print materialunder the supervision of the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation.

The part-time student-employee Graphic Design Specialist is responsible for developing innovative ideas with a consistent brand and look for all promotional material, which focuses on building engagement with Penn State University Park Students, while meeting the university's marketing requirements. They will assist with curating social media content highlighting programs, events, services and Campus Recreation initiatives, work with all Campus Recreation units when creating graphics, coordinate photography needs with peers and Assistant Director, research promotional trends and engagement strategies, assist with scheduling and monitoring content to be published on social media at ideal times, assist with managing the social media calendar, attend Campus Recreation events and programs to document through video and photography and print, distribute, and deliver print material as necessary.

The Graphic Design Specialist acts as an ambassador for Penn State Campus Recreation both at work and away. They will utilize WhenToWork software to communicate work availability to supervisors and coworkers, respectfully manage disagreements, model positive rapport with patrons and employees, have decisive decision-making in the absence of professional staff, role model appropriate behavior at all times - including in online communities, maintain regular and frequent communication with the supervisory team, interact with diverse groups through a variety of situations and promote Campus Recreation programs and services.

Experience with social media, communications, or business operations, problem-solving skills, ability to positively interact with patrons and employees strongly preferred.

Work will take place on the University Park Campus and successful candidates must successfully complete a background check and must be able to accommodate a variable work schedule that will include mornings, evenings, weekends, and University breaks.

Campus Recreation is a department within Student Affairs that provides fitness, wellness, and recreational programs to the campus community through the operation and administration of the new expanded and renovated 200,000 sf Intramural Building, the McCoy Natatorium, the 700-acre Stone Valley Outdoor Recreation Area, a Tennis Center including six clay courts and four indoor courts, the White Building, Outdoor Adventures, Aquatics, Club Sports, Fitness and Wellness Programs, and Intramural Sports.
