General Summary of Position In this position, you will play a key role in abstracting, coding, and entering diagnostic, demographic, treatment, and follow-up data for all patients diagnosed with malignancies admitted to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and/or the Lombardi Cancer Center. This is a full-time, fully remote role with a day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM EST. A current ODS Certification and at least 2 years of experience in cancer registry work are required. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Abstracts data from medical records efficiently to meet productivity standards.Applies knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes, and established guidelines to accurately abstract cancer cases.Performs procedures for identifying all malignant and benign cases set by the CoC and DC Central Registry from departments of the hospital, Lombardi Cancer Center and the outpatient areas to maintain suspense file.Maintains knowledge of cancer treatment, data acquisition, and related skills through continuing education and research.Answers requests for data from Tumor Registry database.Organizes and manages case finding, staging and follow up materials appropriately.Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area. Minimum Qualifications Education
- Associate's degree or higher level of education required

- A minimum of two (2) years directly related work experience in tumor/cancer registry required
Licenses and Certifications
- Oncology Data Certification required
