Job Summary

VSolvit is seeking a Database Administrator Journeyman Level to join the EW team at Pt. Mugu. This position will work on the EWDS (Electronic Warfare Data Systems) Team, supporting the EW systems for many of the US Navy air platforms including EA-18G, MH-60R, and E-2C/D.

The employee will work with the various EWDS teams on and off of NAS Point Mugu in their efforts to both enhance and maintain legacy systems while simultaneously migrating those same capabilities into more modernized and networked database architectures and environments.

This will entail work with both the Database teams directly as well as multiple Software development teams in the development and deployment of Mission Planning and other related support software from both internal government teams as well as third party vendors.

Responsibilities

- Meet weekly with developmental teams in support of Fleet Software and Hardware improvement and sustainment efforts
- Gain an understanding of the capabilities and limitations of both the different Databases and interrelated software programs of the various Naval Air platform systems and subsystems
- Develop and implement efficient strategies on migrating existing MS SQL Databases to PostgreSQL environments, specifically for application within cloud based (AWS/AZURE/GCP) environments
- Work with the development and maintenance teams in designing requirements within an AGILE environment to meet both Support Lab needs
- Work with Fleet Help Desk support team to define and integrate emergent Fleet needs with the scheduled tasking of the labs
- Support design and testing of database partitioning and Schema options to improve on efficiencies of data handling in terms of import, processing, storage, and export
- Troubleshooting and resolving database integrity, performance, blocking/deadlocking, connectivity and security issues between asynchronous connection servers, nodes, and potentially austere forward edge computers
- Develop and maintain database documentation, including but not limited to System Security Plan, Data Dictionary, Backup Procedures, Job Queue Monitoring
- Perform all of the above within both existing and developing DEVSECOPS pipelines

Basic Qualifications

- Minimum 8 years experience years of direct industry experience in database administration or data engineering
- CS or SW Engineering or a related Bachelor's degree or relevant certifications & experience (8+ years in industry with certifications in lieu of degree)
- Expertise with SQL and direct PostgreSQL
- TS/SCI eligible

Preferred Qualifications

- SAFe-AGILE experience
- Previous work with US Navy or Marine corps Intelligence organizations, specifically the ELINT (Electronic Intelligence) in operational or tactical support roles
- Baseline knowledge in PostgreSQL - especially as pertaining to asynchronous updating of large datasets
- Experience optimizing large and complex datasets for presentation to both humans and machines for analysis
- Integration of AI/ML programs with large and complex datasets to develop and apply resulting data models
