The Advanced Capabilities and Technologies group researches and develops high risk / high reward technology for advanced ground and satellite systems that are used for space domain awareness, space control, earth observation and scientific missions. Our work focuses on the development of novel concepts, instruments and algorithms. Projects range from laboratory-scale technology/concept development to delivery of large ground- and space-based prototypes that are transitioned into operational use. The group draws from expertise in a wide range of disciplines, including engineering, computer science, physics, chemistry, astronomy, and applied mathematics.


Job Description

The candidate will support analysis of space, counterspace, and terrestrial military and intelligence systems.These analyses will be used to explore and develop the feasibility of emerging advanced technologies and capabilities, and will also assess the practical, operational employment of emerging capabilities to include their resilience and robustness to current and new countermeasures. Where applicable, data from existing measurements, or from new experiments will be used to validate analyses. Where appropriate, this individual will pursue development of prototype systems to further mature technologies and capabilities.

Desired Background/Special Skills

Ability to pursue detailed analysis where needed while maintaining system-level perspective required; numerical and/or computer modeling experience a plus; experience with analysis and reduction of experimental data a plus. Experience with Kalman filters and state estimation techniques is a plus.

Preferences

Programming knowledge and experience using MATLAB, Python, Java, C/C++, etc.; Presentation preparation using PowerPoint, etc. The right individual should have a MS in Physics, Engineering or Mathematics and at least 5 years experience.
