Job Description

Position Overview:

Operates and maintains multiple injection molding machines to produce and audit PET plastic preforms.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Operates multiple injection molding machines using written work instructions, visual management, and computer interface.
  • Conducts 1 & 3 quality inspections using specific written and visual guidelines.
  • Completes Avid quality checks Monday-Friday.
  • Monitors operations of injection molding machine to detect machine malfunctions.
  • Knows and practices safe and proper start-up and shut-down procedures for each machine.
  • Stops machines and production to report malfunctions and performs minor adjustments to correct improper functions.
  • Ensures all tasks are completed in accordance with Amcor Rigid Packaging USA Inc. safety requirements
  • Creates, scans and consumes production tickets using computer interface.
  • Accurately completes all logs, data input and written, to include hourly checks and downtime.
  • Creates process sheets.
  • Removes any damaged material from machine.
  • Creates scrap and regrind tickets.
  • Assembles Gaylord boxes to be used for storage and transport of finished product.
  • Drops down and erects buckhorns,
  • Follows and adheres to all Food Safety requirements within the plant. Has authority to stop machines/production to communicate machine problems and breakdowns to Supervisor or Maintenance Mechanic.
  • Actively participates in Quality training and Good Manufacturing Practice meetings to assist in continuous improvement of plant operations.
  • Operates pallet jack and forklift to move finished product from machine to the staging area.
  • Effectively communicates with all internal departments.
  • Grinds defective PET performs and consumes regrind into blender.
  • Completes blender percent verifications.
  • Turns in tickets for resin consumption, regrind, tickets that were consumed, voids to materials group
  • Places product on HFI.
  • Backtracks quality defense.
  • Maintains a clean work area and maintains injection machines using the weekly/monthly/quarterly/ semi-annual/annual housekeeping in RealSPC
  • Verifies the process to ensure machine is running best in class.
  • Covers for breaks for other coworkers, including maintenance.
  • Reports downtime into Facility Management System (FMS).
  • Completes shift reports.
  • Completes verifications of piece count.
  • Completes resin truck log.
  • Checks product receipts for warehouse.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by the Shift Supervisor/Production Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of experience in a high speed manufacturing environment
  • Basic mathematic skills
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Travel 10% to Fort Worth Plant for training
