Job Description
Position Overview: Reporting to the IBM Platform Leader the IBM Equipment Specialist will be responsible for Troubleshooting & Support of the Legacy and Current in House Injection Blow Molding Equipment as well as the overall development of a maintenance strategy for IBM technology. The IBM Equipment Specialist will lead efforts for platform corrective actions and improvement. Key participant in the overall asset refresh strategy for the technology mapping out current state and future state that will support Amcor's growth initiatives. Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Tasks include providing remote / onsite support and technical information to Amcor plants
- Support adherence to machine specifications, manufacturing oversight, factory acceptance testing, installation consultation, and project closing.
- Work with Amcor plant resources to investigate root causes of ongoing production issues related to injection blow molding machines.
- Drive OEM resolution of open production issues related to blow molding machines.
- Supervise new equipment startups and retrofit work. Ensure Amcor specifications are met and all Amcor functionality is present and correct. Participate in new machine FAT activities as needed.
- Ensure plant personnel are knowledgeable in the benefits and utilization of machine features and functionality.
- Interface with R&D engineering and OEMs to develop and implement machine options designed to improve production capability.
- Work with Amcor and OEMs to develop and implement injection blow molding machine specification standards. Define and implement Amcor specific options package with OEMs.
- Create and maintain project files for each project.
- Create and maintain injection blow mold machine standard documents.
- Maintain Master Equipment Matrix for injection blow molding machines
- Troubleshooting and repair of multiple machinery issues; pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical, located the malfunctions and repair them.
- Relocation of machine assets, including all aspects from initial machine condition audit to installation start up. Plan, organize, and execute machine upgrades including rebuilds.
- Observes all production machinery and mechanical equipment, to include electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, to ensure proper and efficient operation.
- Uses blueprints, drawings, sketches, layouts, and equipment manuals to identify machine malfunctions.
- Ensures operations are completed in accordance with Amcor Rigid Packaging safety procedures.
- Leads and develops the overall maintenance strategy for a given technology. This will include machine audits, current processes, intervals, adherence to gold standards and gap analysis to the findings.
- Develop detail machine requirements that reflect design, safety, documentation, acceptance criteria preventative sequence and spare parts.
- Maintain operational support of existing self-manufactured equipment as required. This will also include the required upgrades and addons to keep the machines to as current within the supported technologies.
- Coordinate updates to the Machinery Database as required. This will included Documents, Drawings and Ancillary information for the machines and will need to be scanned and organized to allow for proper access when needed.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in Engineering/related discipline or equivalent experience.
- Minimum (10) years of industrial maintenance and working with injection blow molding machines.
- Project management experience desired.
- Experience working with injection blow molding machine OEMs required
- Strong technical knowledge with machinery pneumatics, hydraulics and electronics.
- Effective leadership, supervision and project management skills.
- SAP/ERP, Windchill/PLM and Salesforce software familiarity
- MS Office proficiency, specifically MS Project and MS Excel
- Knowledge of injection blow molding tooling is beneficial
- Understands both theoretical and mechanical specifications for all ranges of blowing machines.
- Electrical trouble shooting experience including print reading and component setup.
- Understands the Amcor manufacturing processes including quality verification steps for products.
- Has a working understanding of the bottle forming process including machine setup.
- Solid communication skills both written and verbal; referencing such areas as preparing operating/maintenance manuals. Assist maintenance with support as required.
- Flexible work schedule with up to 50% travel potentially required.
