Gardner Cryogenics (a business of Air Products and Chemicals) has an immediate opening for a Procurement Specialist in the Supply Chain team to support the Gardner Cryogenics Business at our office in the Bethlehem, PA. This position will assist in turnkey procurement activities related to Supplier pricing support and be responsible for the purchase order life cycle.

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • The Procurement Specialist handles all aspects of pricing support, identification of capable suppliers, live interaction with suppliers for technical questions and clarifications, management of RFQ lifecycle, and recommendation for award.

  • Able to communicate clearly with suppliers and internal clients.

  • You will convert requisitions to purchase orders and manage and maintain responsibility for the order management lifecycle until the order has been fulfilled. You will proactively assess order statuses and effectively update orders, communicate, and mitigate any risks or changes to the schedule.

  • You will also be responsible for addressing and resolving invoicing discrepancies, leading and resolving supplier non-conformances, and other quality-related challenges.

  • Travel will be required. Overall travel is encouraged to be 25% or less.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Review requests for assigned commodities/materials, parts, and services and verify specifications

  • Source components or services and ensure timely preparation and communication of RFQ (Request for Quotes) and Purchase Order placement in SAP

  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiating skills, both commercial and legal

  • Strong leadership, influencing, communication, and facilitative skills

  • Works with Engineering, Project Management, and Operations team to understand requirements needed for procured parts and work with suppliers to ensure these requirements are met

  • Self-disciplined and self-motivated with a confirmed ability to work optimally with minimal direction

  • Strong organizational and time management leadership skills

Minimum Hiring Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical, commercial, or business field preferred

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in Procurement, Technical, Engineering, Commercial or Project environment

  • Experience with buying 3rd party services, fabricated equipment, pipe, steel, valves and instruments

  • Experience in discrete manufacturing a plus

  • SAP experience is strongly preferred

Work Hours:
  • Onsite in office, Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
