Department:PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT Organizational Unit:Engineering (50000088) Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time Open Until Filled. $19.47 to $21.42 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. South Area/Melbourne/Travels Countywide. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Performs experienced service work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic control devices. Work includes maintaining warehouse inventory; material receiving operations as a sign warehouse technician; and working with and being cross-trained by the Traffic Sign Fabrication staff. Provides technical oversight to other Traffic Signs & Marking staff. REQUIREMENTS: Three (3) years of experience in the installation and maintenance of traffic signs and/or pavement markings. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)/Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level I Signs and Markings certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain within twelve (12) months of employment, a valid International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level II Signs and Marking certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment. Must be able to successfully complete within six (6) months of employment, an OSHA-compliant forklift training class, which meets the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.178 and be able to safely operate a forklift. Must be physically capable at all times of properly wearing and utilizing all required personal protective equipment (PPE). Must be able to work planned and unplanned overtime and be able to respond to emergency calls on a rotational basis twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays. In the event of a hurricane, natural storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
