This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security and human spaceflight.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support and become expert at the methodologies and circuits that implement precision electronic instrumentation measurements as used in rocket engine controllers.
  • Gain full understanding of power conversion circuits that drive electrical actuators (such as solenoids, servo-valves, etc.).
  • Resolve engine controller electrical issues. This requires proficiency utilizing lab equipment..
  • Become expert at processing/documenting non-conforming development issues.
  • Gain proficiency with schematic entry and analysis tools to affect change from ongoing product discoveries.
  • Debug, with supervision: electrical issues associated with engine controller design and controller design for manufacturing (DFM) issues.
  • Engage and resolve manufacturing issues with contract manufacturing partners
  • Learn fundamental operation of the core circuits: embedded processor watchdog, reset logic, analog instrumentation and other circuits related to sensors, actuators and their accuracy.
  • Write and execute work orders as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS EE or related field (possibly Computer Engineering, Physics)
  • Internship, project or research experience with analog and digital electronics specifically related to instrumentation measurement circuits and/or embedded processor configurations
  • Expertise in popular Electronic CAD packages (schematic entry, simulation)
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Exceptional hands-on lab debug skills. Proficient utilizing lab equipment and making measurements
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS EE
  • Experience with FPGA development process, including HDL design (VHDL/Verilog), synthesis, simulation, and debugging.
  • Experience with Aerospace electronic development is a plus
  • Exposure to designing safety or critically important aerospace flight hardware aligned with DO-254.
  • Circuit board layout experience
  • Knowledge or expertise of power conversion electronics

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $92,430.00-$129,402.00

Other site ranges may differ
