Stony Brook University: Health Sciences: Renaissance School of Medicine: Neurology Location Stony Brook, New York Open Date Sep 09, 2024 Deadline Mar 09, 2025 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time Description The Department of Neurology in the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University seeks faculty candidates to establish a new Behavioral Neurology Outpatient Practice. Our faculty currently lead several nationally recognized, highly regarded outpatient subspecialty centers in Neuromuscular Medicine, Neuroimmunology, Epilepsy, and Movement Disorders. Ancillary services include MRI/PET capabilities, EEG, EMG/ NCV, and infusion therapy. The Behavioral Neurology Group, consisting of neurologists and advanced practice providers, will serve as the hub for new patient referrals and long-term management of behavioral neurology patients. In collaboration with faculty from Geriatric Psychiatry, our behavioral neurologists will round out the multidisciplinary team that comprises the Stony Brook Center of Excellence for Alzheimer's Disease (CEAD). Initially funded in 2016, the CEAD is a state-funded initiative that provides comprehensive medical services for diagnosing and treating individuals living with AD and other dementias. Paired with the existing research infrastructure available through the Neurosciences Institute, including a world-class positron emission tomography core (PET), Stony Brook offers unparalleled opportunities to conduct cutting-edge research and recruit patients for various investigator initiated and industry-sponsored research trials. Stony Brook is a 624-bed tertiary care facility with a catchment area of 1.5 M residents. It is home to the only Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level IV Epilepsy Center, 20-bed Neurological Critical Care Unit (NCCU), and Level I trauma center in Suffolk County. The vascular neurology team and interventionalists handle on-site support for inpatient stroke alerts (including the ED). The Division of Neurohospital Medicine serves as the hub of these inpatient and consultative services and supports a team of neuroscience-trained advanced practice providers.
