Position Description
The Strategic Account Rental Coordinator will work with the Thompson Machinery Strategic Account Manager and strategic account rental representatives to grow in-territory strategic rental accounts and support the development of National Accounts. The position will involve working directly with Caterpillar National Account Managers and customers. The focus for this position is on large and unique accounts having significant potential rental revenue per calendar year within the dealer territory or in multiple dealer territories. This will be the primary coordinator for those accounts having complex and/or specific agreement and invoicing requirements. Knowledge and experience with telematics devices, programs, hardware, and capabilities is highly desirous. To be effective, the Strategic Account Rental Coordinator must establish an understanding of the following objectives and accountabilities:
Objectives & Accountabilities


  1. Obtain 100% of business plan net revenue goals based on strategic account targets set by strategic account manager.
  2. Collaborate with other sales and operations management to serve strategic account customers.
  3. Work to obtain overall financial utilization to meet specific strategic accounts goals in the following areas:



  • CAT Equipment
  • Allied Equipment



  1. Work with Strategic Account Manager to develop marketing plans as needed.
  2. Ensure all policies, procedures and processes are being followed as they relate to Cloud Link.
  3. Primary customer contact to assist with rental and sales needs for National and Strategic account customers.
  4. Assist Caterpillar national account managers with growth, implementation, and all other customer-related issues.
  5. Communicate all strategic and national account information to rental divisions.
  6. Follow up with all strategic and national accounts on outstanding accounts receivable.
  7. Work with rental asset manager on fleet (specifications) needs and growth opportunities.
  8. Primary contact for telematics implementation, monitoring, and conveyance of data for those strategic and national rental accounts which require such services.
  9. Develop strategic account plans and strategies with the Strategic Account Manager and Strategic Account Rental Representatives.
  10. Work with multi-territory customers to increase rental market share within Cat Rental Stores
  11. Handle customer complaints or issues timely, including Daniel Group Survey feedback.
  12. Lost rent report to be completed timely in Cloud Link.
  13. 100% of management requests, special assignments or projects to be completed within the specified time.
  14. Consistent communication with rental sales team, and all other departments within Thompson Machinery on progress, issues, needs, etc. as directed by the Strategic Account Manager.
  15. Work with other Cat dealers as needed to develop strategic and national rental accounts.
  16. Schedule and develop training to meet strategic customer accounts requirements.
  17. Attend rental sales meetings as required.
  18. Track customer incentive programs and provide quarterly accrual information to the Strategic Account Manager.
  19. Serve as a resource on reporting requirements for all Strategic and National rental accounts, as well as other reporting needs of other rental management as requested.
  20. Provide consultative sales advice to key executive decision-makers of our strategic accounts.
  21. Provide quality control on all National and Strategic accounts.
  22. Work with all rental representatives throughout our territory as needed.
  23. Work and develop relationships with all allied vendors.
  24. Work with Strategic Account Managers at other Cat dealers as needed.


Administrative:


  • Work with rental operations manager to set operating standards as needed by Strategic Accounts.
  • Establish policies on issues specific to the strategic account with Strategic Account Manager.
  • Understand the NAP in IRENTAL and monitor for accuracy.
  • Possess and demonstrate excellent people skills and ability to delegate and communicate effectively within all departments.
  • 100% Cloud Link usage to maintain account information.
  • Provide administrative support to the Strategic Account Manager as needed.


Customer Relations:


  • Act as a mediator for Strategic accounts within all departments within Thompson Machinery.
  • Work closely with the Credit and Collections department.
  • Work with Sales and Marketing team members, staying informed of market conditions (competitors and utilization trends), customer needs and programs.
  • Make direct customer contact routinely to ensure customer satisfaction levels.
  • Be available on call via mobile phone, email, and text to meet customers' after-hours needs for equipment and services.


Position Profile:


  1. Dominant Skills Required


Candidate must have great people skills, enthusiastic personality, and possess an extraordinary ability with attention to detail. Must have sound organizational skills with an ability to coordinate programs and logistics associated with the programs. Mechanical aptitude, retail sales experience, and customer relations will be beneficial. Experience with MS Excel reporting, Informer report creating and exporting, and telematics portals, is highly desirous.
B. Education and Training


  • College degree, formal college training, and/or additional training in the areas outlined above will be preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the training and support capabilities within the Caterpillar organization.
  • Knowledge of the operations, sales, service, and other systems that pertain to account growth (IRS, Dodge Pipeline, DOM, NAP, etc.)
  • Strong communication ability via verbal and written correspondence to executive level leaders.
  • Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills.
  • Analytical and assessment techniques to examine, question, evaluate and report on the performance of each strategic account.



  1. Technical Requirements



  • A working knowledge of Integrated Rental Solutions, Vision Link, Service Link and DBS as well as other telematics devices and portals.



  1. Career Experience


The strategic account rental coordinator should have experience in the rental industry and significant experience in rental operations. Some closely related industries would include finance, construction, engineering, and equipment distribution.
Summary:
The Strategic Account Rental Coordinator is responsible for meeting all sales and revenue goals set by the Strategic Account Manager and the Rental Sales Manager. It is critical in this position to possess or be trained in the necessary interpersonal and administrative skills necessary to perform and carry out all duties stated above.
