Overview

The Program Manager fulfills all clinical responsibilities in the respective areas of practice - Physical Therapy. In addition, the Program Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations involved in the planning, coordination, and provision of his/her department's clinical services including being a liaison. Ensures that all clinical staff and clinical equipment meet standards established by Nationwide Children's Hospital and external regulatory agencies.
Demonstrates competencies defined (*) in Program Manager responsibilities in providing age-appropriate and developmentally-appropriate care to patients from the age of birth through 21 years, and select adult patients.

Responsibilities

The Physical Therapy Program Manager supports, communicates, implements and enforces the philosophy, mission, values, standards, policies and procedures of Nationwide Children's Hospital.

    *Performs all clinical duties and meets all minimum qualifications established for the
    respective area of practice.
  • Participates in the development of a scheduling system to improve efficiency of patient scheduling.
  • Proposes and justifies clinical services; forecasts staffing, supply and equipment needs, and annual expense and capital budgets for the department.
  • Participates in recruiting of candidates and makes hire recommendations.
  • Prepares performance evaluations and recommends salary adjustments. As necessary, recommends disciplinary actions and/or termination of staff.
  • Compiles information regarding staff productivity on a regular basis and provides summaries as requested. Monitors time and attendance information.
  • Monitors staff schedules to ensure coverage; as necessary, serves as back-up in the event of absence. Assigns work and serves as a resource in resolution of clinical or other issues.
  • Collaborates with the Education Department and universities to develop education contracts and coordinate student experiences. Coordinates and supervises activities of students.
  • Actively participates in departmental planning and implementation of new programs.
  • Reviews and processes requests for materials, supplies and new equipment.
  • Reviews and provides input into departmental job descriptions.
  • Attends leadership meetings; conducts regular departmental meetings to provide information to staff.
  • Communicates, coordinates and collaborates with departmental medical director as appropriate.
  • Meets regularly with immediate supervisor.
  • Coordinates departmental performance improvement activities.
  • Acts as a departmental liaison with internal departments and external agencies
  • Participates in educational activities to enhance age- appropriate, developmentally-appropriate and cultural interventions.


Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Meets the education, experience, and licensure/certification requirements of the appropriate clinical job description.
  • Three to five years of leadership experience in a progressive physical therapy department. Outpatient pediatric leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Supervisory skills required to plan, assign, and evaluate the work of subordinate staff. Analytical skills required to oversee and organize the work of others, and to develop and administer sound policies, procedures, budgets and multidisciplinary practices required.
  • High level of initiative, self-direction and accountability for actions required. Strong leadership and decision-making skills required.
  • Exceptional customer service, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal relationship skills required for interaction with contacts.
  • Competence in personal computing and beginning competence in the use of Microsoft Office software.
  • CPR certification must be received no later than 60 days post hire or 60 days post expiration.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to hear, speak, read and perform manual tasks with or without accommodation and care for oneself with little or no difficulty. Will require the ability to travel.
