POSITION TITLE: CNC Machinist - 2nd Shift DATE: January 2025

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt DEPT: Manufacturing

LOC: North Carolina


POSITION SUMMARY : The CNC Machinist reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for producing parts using various tolling and machines; operates in compliance with company safety practices; and performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Sets up program and operates conventional manufacturing machines, CNC Machine, lathes and milling machines.
  2. Read and interprets drawings and builds parts to the specifications.
  3. Assembles parts to expected quality specifications.
  4. Inspect parts, using basic hand tools, for accuracy of fabrication per drawing specifications.
  5. Builds tooling and fixtures needed to produce parts using manufacturing machines.
  6. Completes required paperwork as work progresses per work instructions; input necessary information in computer work order.
  7. Assist in special projects as required and assist coworkers as required.
  8. Cleans and maintains shop equipment for proper operation.
  9. Informs Production Manager of faulty/perishable equipment and tooling for repair.
  10. Keeps work area clean and properly store equipment.
  11. Comply with established company and department safety procedures.
  12. Protects equipment and parts from damage.
  13. Informs Production Manager of damage to equipment and personal accidents.
  14. Operates in compliance with company safety practices: complies with and aids in the development of departmental safety rules; ensures all equipment is in good working order and operates in a safe manner; monitors area for hazards; and maintains a safe and clean work area.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  2. Three to five years previous Machining with three, four and/or five axis experience
  3. Ability to use power operated machinery.
  4. Familiar with the use of basic hand tools and own basic hand tools.
  5. Must be team oriented and time sensitive.
  6. Ability to work on own and motivated to perform job and provide a high-end, quality product.
  7. Ability to work to specifications and extremely high attention to detail.
  8. Must be able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.


Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to lift a maximum of 75 lbs. and work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to travel occasionally.

Working Environment : The working environment is not climate controlled and is weather permitting. Daily contact with employees in other departments is required.
