Manufacturing Engineering Intern - Summer 2025

Precinmac is a leading diversified manufacturer of high-tolerance precision machined components and assemblies. The Precinmac brand represents eight independently owned companies in the United States and Canada. We focus on continuous improvement, on-time delivery, and the highest possible quality and consistency.

This Manufacturing Engineer Intern position is available at one of our Precinmac East Coast division companies, which are Maine Machine Products (MMP) located in South Paris, ME. Our facility is a climate-controlled machine shop that features 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling machines, lathes, multi-tasking (mill/turn) machines, and deburring equipment to produce parts for the aerospace, defense, and semiconductor industries. We also build electro-mechanical assemblies in a Class 1000 cleanroom environment. Our facilities operate 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, with a broad range of capabilities that include lights-out production thanks to our perpetual capital reinvestment. Our companies have evolved into a single-source solution for close tolerance fabrication, machining and finishing of various metals and metal alloys. We collaborate with our customers in Design-for-Manufacturing events to lower cost, shorten lead times, increase predictability and provide on-time inventories. From helping our customers bring new and innovative products to market, to developing new, more efficient techniques to produce legacy products, we welcome the challenges and excitement that comes with turning ideas into reality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The intern will function in a Manufacturing Engineering role with a focus on Continuous Improvement using Lean Manufacturing concepts to eliminate waste, reduce costs, create flow, and drive process improvement in various manufacturing functions at MMP & HTI.

  • The intern will visit the opposite facility (for example, an intern based at MMP will visit HTI) at least once during the internship to help translate best practices, participate in kaizens, and other assigned activities.
  • The intern will also focus on change management and overcoming resistance and will require strong communication and people skills to get buy-in on process improvements on the shop floor.
