The Department of Transportation is hiring three (3) City Laborers who will report to the Facilities Maintenance unit. Under supervision, the City Laborer will perform common unskilled labor requiring physical strength in the support of maintenance functions on the city's elevated infrastructure. They will move, lift and carry items of various weight and sizes. The candidate may be required to operate motor vehicles in connection with the performance of duties. The candidate may also uses hand and power tools and performs other related duties.

Minimum Qualifications

1. There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position.
2. There are certain medical and physical requirements.
License Requirements
Possession of a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
