Patients admitted to 4 East present with chest pain, unstable angina, acute myocardial infarction, rhythm disturbance, heart failure/cardiomyopathy, etc. Nurses in this unit provide Pre & Post Procedural care for acute cardiology patients: cardiac catheterization (diagnostic & intervention w/ sheath pull), Electrophysiology (ablations, pacemaker insertions, ICD placement) and Angiography patients. 4 East is the destination for patients receiving minimalist valve procedures. In addition 4 East maintains Joint Commission Certification in the care of patients with Heart Failure and Mechanical Circulatory Support. 4 East is the only acute care unit that specializes in the care of patients with Left Ventricular Assist Devices, Total Artificial Hearts, and the treatment and management of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent. Experience: No experience required. Relevant experience preferred. Licensure: Certified Nursing Aide certification (CNA) through the Virginia Board of Nursing. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires frequently bending/stooping and driving (Home Health Aide only). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs and > 100lbs (Home Health Aide only). May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
