Job Overview
The Painter Maintenance paints walls, equipment, buildings, bridges, and other structural surfaces, using brushes, rollers, and spray guns. The incumbent removes old paint to prepare surfaces prior to painting and mixes colors to obtain desired color or consistency. Work Model: Onsite
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Paints and redecorates walls, woodwork, and fixtures of an establishment.
- Assesses surface peculiarities and specific preparation for various types of paint required for different applications including, metal, wood, concrete, sheetrock, and epoxy-based coatings.
- Prepares surface for painting by removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in nail holes and interstices and applying paint with spray gun or brush.
- May mix colors, oils, and other paint ingredients to obtain proper color or consistency.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- Four years' experience in the painting trade and thorough knowledge of paints, thinners, and lacquers.
- Must be certified in accordance with Federal, State and local standards and laws.
- Must be able to work at heights and have good color perception.
- Must have and maintain hand tools of the trade to perform the normal work of the classifications.
- Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/common access card.
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
- Valid state Driver's License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
- Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS).
- Ability to obtain Government credentials that may be required.
